Aldea Weaving from aldea on Vimeo.
Through the unit Recycle, Reuse, and Renew: 3rd grade artists are learning to create functional items from reuseable household materials. In their first lesson students created a handmade wallet from recycle magazine paper and duct tape. We discussed the importance of measuring, folding, and craftsmanship. The second lesson will teach the students to create a woven cloth from yarn, string, pipe cleaners, plastic baggies, sticks, lace, felt, etc. By weving these patterns from a variety of materials, students will increase their dexterity and fine motor skils. What can you make from recycled materials?

Excellent video! I'd love to see what the weavings look like when they are done. I hope they are enjoying the art making process!
